Overnight storms caused flooding that blocked several parts of the Mitraphap Highway from Bangkok to the Northeast, with more heavy rain forecast for the next two weeks. The weather office warned on Thursday that more rain is on the way for Bangkok and nearby, particularly in the afternoon and evening, and that storms will continue to around Oct 21. City residents are especially advised to be prepared for heavy rain on Saturday,Mr Wanchai said the rain will continue until Oct 20-21 when it will begin to decrease and the monsoon trough will move down to lie across the South. At the time, rain in the South will intensify while the cold season will begin in the North and the Northeast. Police, volunteers and rescue units were helping people whose vehicles were stalled by the floodwater and supplying them with drinking water.
